Slovenia is a popular destination for vacation and apparently celebrities don’t want to miss out. Here is the list of places that celebrities visited in Slovenia either for vacation or as a work trip.
1. Sevnica – Melanija Trump
Did you know that the First Lady of the United States grew up in Slovenia? That’s right! Melania Trump spent her childhood and youth in Sevnica which is a rather small town in the heart of Slovenia. If you decide to visit Sevnica expect vast green landscapes by the longest Slovenian river, the Sava. Look out for Melania cake, Melania honey, Melania slippers and the newest acquisition: life-size statue of Melania Trump that was carved into a tree.
2. Portorož – Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio spent a night in the prestigious hotel in a beautiful town on the Slovenian coast called Portorož. He accompanied his girlfriend Bar Refaeli, a famous supermodel who was filming a worldwide advertising campaign. If you either stay on the Slovenian coast or if you decide to make a day trip from Ljubljana to the seaside be sure to check out Portorož; the centre of social events on the coast and one of the most beautiful historical Mediterranean towns.
3. Soča – Narnia Cast
We bet you watched The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian but were you aware that parts of it were filmed in the beautiful Soča river valley that is situated about 80 km west of Ljubljana? When the filmmakers searched for locations, the Soča river and its surroundings were some of the most outstanding. The director of the movie, Andrew Adamson, said: “The beauty of this place overwhelmed me, as a director and a tourist. It is gorgeous and the Soča river is the perfect place for filming a fairytale.” Regardless of the liveliness that was brought to Soča valley because of the Disney film it remains an idyllic destination open to all who wish to experience nature at its best.
4. Ljubljana – Paris Hilton
In 2011 partygoer Paris Hilton attended David Guetta concert with DJ Afrojack which was held in the Stožice Arena. She posted about it on her twitter saying that she enjoyed the concert and had a really good time in Slovenia with her two favourite DJs Afrojack and David Guetta. If you are visiting Ljubljana be sure to check out the events in Stožice Stadium; although it was built for football it also hosts many cultural events.
5. Ljubljana – Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II payed a historic visit to Slovenia with her husband, the Duke of Edinburg. The visit was three days long and celebrated rich and long history of relations between the United Kingdom and Slovenia. The Queen crossed Ljubljana’s landmark Triple Bridge accompanied by Slovenian President Danilo Turk and Mayor Zoran Janković and was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd. Thousands of locals and tourists gathered on Prešeren Square to get a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth II.
